Down 20-13 in the AFC Championship game, the Broncos looked like they were going to have to wait until next year to go to the Super Bowl, but John Elway had other ideas. Starting with the ball at his own 2 yard line, Elway launched a 98-yard, 15 play drive to tie the game and subsequently win it in overtime. The game tying drive is commonly known as “The Drive.” The legendary series of plays has forever haunted the Browns.

The “Marathon by the Lake” was a back and forth playoff thriller that featured Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar setting NFL playoff records for passing attempts, completions, and yardage. After four quarters and an overtime period, the Browns and Jets found themselves tied at 20-20, but early in the second overtime period, Browns Kicker Mark Moseley hit a 27-yard field goal to send Cleveland to the AFC Championship Game.

The first ever game for the Texans looked to be a good one, as Houston found themselves tied at 10-10 heading into the fourth quarter against the in-state rival Dallas Cowboys. Destined to win their first game, Houston outscored Dallas 9-0 in the fourth. This victory marked a new beginning for the city of Houston after having lost their previous NFL franchise just five years earlier.

A year after reaching the AFC title game, the Jets were out to prove that 2009 was not a fluke. The only thing standing between them and another shot at the AFC championship was a game in Foxborough against the division rival Patriots. The Bills were down-and-out on two counts; they were trailing 35-3 to a talented Houston Oilers team and their starting quarterback, Jim Kelly, was was out due to an injury he suffered the week before to those same Oilers. The situation looked hopeless, but the team rallied around backup Frank Reich and went on a 35-3 second half run before winning the game in overtime. The 32 point deficit is the largest any NFL team has ever overcome on the way to a win.
