The “Marathon by the Lake” was a back and forth playoff thriller that featured Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar setting NFL playoff records for passing attempts, completions, and yardage. After four quarters and an overtime period, the Browns and Jets found themselves tied at 20-20, but early in the second overtime period, Browns Kicker Mark Moseley hit a 27-yard field goal to send Cleveland to the AFC Championship Game.

The first ever game for the Texans looked to be a good one, as Houston found themselves tied at 10-10 heading into the fourth quarter against the in-state rival Dallas Cowboys. This victory marked a new beginning for the city of Houston after having lost their previous NFL franchise just five years earlier.
